People encouraged to insulate their homes as part of Big Energy week

As part of Big Energy Week, people are being encouraged to insulate their homes to help reduce their energy bills.

Taking advantage of free or discounted loft and cavity wall insulation offered by energy companies can save people an average £120 off their bill every year.

People over the age of 70, families on low incomes, people with disabilities and those with long-term health conditions are likely to qualify for free insulation.

People are being encouraged to call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 to see if they are entitled to help – or if they know or care for someone who could benefit, they can also call on their behalf.

Throughout Big Energy Week there are hundreds of events happening around the country where people can get practical help on how to save money on their fuel bills.

Earlier in the week, Home Heat Helpline advisor, Lynn Murray was giving out advice to the public at an event in London. She met the Energy Secretary, Chris Huhne who was there to launch the Big Energy Week.
