Kym Marsh's Letter to Editor 1 March 2010
Dear Editor,
As we shiver through one of our coldest winters, I know that many households across the UK will be worried about their heating bills.
There is help out there, which is why I’m encouraging those most in need to call the free Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 to find out about grants for insulation, special reduced tariffs as well as advice on how to keep warm.
It wasn’t so long ago that I was a single mum living on benefits with two young kids so I remember how hard it can be to keep your family warm when every penny counts. I would add layers to the kids’ beds on really cold nights and sit in the living room with my coat on rather than spend the limited money I had on heating the house.
But this doesn’t have to be the situation for families across the UK. Had I known about the Home Heat Helpline I would have picked up the phone immediately – which is why I encourage households to give them a call.
