Over the past week, the wintry weather has arrived and it’s predicted that it will remain extremely cold for most of February. We expect that this cold snap will mean a busy time for the Home Heat Helpline as more people call to get advice about their energy bills.

We want to encourage people to call the Helpline if they are worried about paying their energy bills this winter. The challenge we face is that many people don’t ask for help because they don’t know they may be eligible.

As we shiver through one of the coldest starts to the winter in living memory, it’s no surprise that the Home Heat Helpline has been inundated by calls from customers asking for help to keep warm and save money on their energy bills

‘Insulate before it’s too late’, that's the message the Home Heat Helpline has been spreading over the last couple of weeks, as we launched a summer campaign to get people to start thinking about keeping bills down through the coming winter.

As we enter British Summer Time, many of us are relieved to be turning down the thermostat and putting away our thermals. The warmer weather gives us the perfect opportunity to include household energy efficiency measures as part of our spring cleaning. Remember the draught that came through the kitchen window? Or the hallway that seemed to haemorrhage heat? Now is the perfect time to take action, while we remember the effects of the coldest winter for decades
